Ras Al Khaimah will host the annual Airlines Sports and Cultural Association (ASCA) Golf Tournament hosted by Emirates Airline from 28-30 November 2016 at Al Hamra Golf Club.
The deal to stage the signature tournament in Ras Al Khaimah, which will welcome 120 players from a host of global airline teams, was formally signed yesterday by Emirates Golf Society and Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority (RAKTDA), which develops the emirate’s tourism infrastructure and plans, initiates and drives its domestic and overseas promotions, at the Emirates Group Headquarters in Dubai.
Haitham Mattar, CEO of RAKTDA, said: “Ras Al Khaimah is fast becoming known as a major player in the regional golf tourism market. A combination of year-round sunshine, world-class golfing facilities and diverse hotel offerings is helping Ras Al Khaimah establish a position as a leading option for travelling golfers.
“Hosting a variety of sporting events, both big and small, is a core pillar in strategy to build a formidable activity tourism sector in Ras Al Khaimah. In addition to hosting the inaugural Ras Al Khaimah 2016 Challenge Tour at the end of the month, we will continue to expand our events calendar which will encompass an increasing number of sporting and cultural activities across the unique natural landscapes of Ras Al Khaimah. ”
Steve Allen, Senior Vice President of Performance Development at the Emirates Group, and Captain of the Emirates Golf Society, said: “Emirates is excited to be hosting the ASCA golf tournament this year as it is a chance to showcase the incredible year-round golf offering in the UAE.
